SRHR - Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

Den handlingsplan som formulerades vid FN:s internationella konferens om befolkning och utveckling (ICPD) i Kairo 1994 innebar ett paradigmskifte från befolkningskontroll till ett rättighetsbaserat synsätt med en helhetssyn på sexuell och reproduktiv hälsa och rättigeheter där individens val sätts i centrum

Sexuell och reproduktiv hälsa

"Reproductive health is defined by WHO as a state of physical, mental, and social well-being in all matters realting to the reproductive system at all stages of life. Reproductive health implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when, and how often to do so. Implicit in this are the right of men and women to be informed and to have access to safe, effective, affordable, and acceptable methods of family planning of their choice, and the right to appropriate health-care services that enable women to safely go through pregnancy and childbirth. Reproductive healt care is defined as the constelaltion of methods, techniques, and services that contribute health problems. It also includes sexual health, the purpose of which is the enhancement of life and personal realtions, and not merely counseling and care realted to reproduction and sexually transmitted infections." "Reproduktiv hälsa är ett vitt begrepp där sociala, psykologiska och kroppsliga aspekter på barnafödande och sexualitet är sammanvävda. mer konkret innebär en god reproduktiv hälsa, enligt WHO, ett ansvarsfullt, tillfredställande och säkert sexualliv, förmågan att fortplanta sig, frihet att besluta om sitt barnafödande och möjligheten att få friska barn. God reproduktiv hälsa förutsätter kunskap om och tillgång till födelsekontroll och smittskydd samt säkra förhållanden under graviditet och förlossning. Reproduktiv hälsa ligger i linje med WHo:s vida definition av hälsa som ett tillstånd av socialt, psykiskt och kroppsligt välbefinnande, och inte enbart frånvaro av sjukdom."
